4 weeks into my married life :)

I've been married for 4 weeks...life has been almost the same, no drastic changes...still wake up to go to work at 9am...hahaha...still go in to the office at 10am...I still have my own time and space when Sam goes out for drinks with his friends or outstation/overseas for work...I get to either go to the gym, have dinner with family/friends or go shopping for necessities...but for me to go out when Sam is not in town, will be different, I'll have to avoid going home so late, cos they might know what time I go home and they might not like it that I go home so late...dunno leh...have so many things to think about now when it comes to these things...last time, I only have to worry about my mom nagging me about safety and all that, but that's my mom ma...I can just ignore, talk back, or argue with her about it...hahaha...but now, I can't...

I also have to be more careful, cos his brother loves to go into his room...I understand that he also needs time to get used to seeing a sister-in-law around the house but hor...he has to know now that he can no longer barge into his brother's room anymore...he has to learn how to knock and only enter if told...if no answer means "do not disturb"...hahaha...I gave him a good talk on this matter and made him understand this point...so far so good :P

His sister has been good so far...she has grown up a lot, so she has become quite pleasant to stay with...other than her fights with her little brother, other than that, she is quite ok...not affecting me, only affecting my ears...but ok la...can't help it if they love to fight & argue with each other, this is for their parents to worry about la...

So, these are the few things that are diferent now...oh well...should be better when we move out to our own place...can't wait :P then I'll have alllllllllllll the freedom...woo hoo!!!

FINALLY!!!

I am finally MARRIED!!! It's been almost one week already, but it feels like as if I have not gone through the wedding yet. It passed by so quickly that I can't really remember what happened...haha...I just know that now I am staying at his house with a ring on my finger :P

After months of planning and stress and running around like a mad woman, it was all worth it. Everything turned out better than expected :) Although there were many things that I could have done better at that time, but I was too tired to think of them. I was surprisingly not very nervous as I thought I'd be...I was rather calm and I was being myself :) The only time that I was a little nervous was the 20 minutes before he managed to "break-in" to the room during the pick-up bride session...haha...

The G Hotel dinner on the 25th of October went on smoothly, thanks to Sharon & Mimi - they did a wonderful job of coordinating everything - and also thanks to a few of Sam's cousins who managed the reception area & ushering. That night ended so quickly, it felt like it lasted only 10 minutes. I was so calm and relaxed that day because I know I have done my best, and whatever happens, happens...and I have already passed on the tasks to Sharon & Mimi and trust that they will do what they can to help...and I was glad I chose the right people to help me cos they did a wonderful job :) Woo hoo!!!

Then on Saturday, Carmen & Sharon stayed over at the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion with me...we woke up early and had coffee...and before we knew it, Sam has arrived (early by 30 minutes) which sent us all in a frenzy to get ready for his arrival, which caused a bit of a chaos at the games & tricks session...he managed to sneak in through the side door and I am still pissed, but will not talk about it here in my blog...and a few days later, I found out who helped him...If "someone" had listened to me, he would not have succeeded, my plans were fail-proof...who knows my husband better than I do?...but apparently someone thought she did...oh well...what to do?...so now the guys will brag about it for a long time to come...damn!!! Anyway, it's over already...but my anger was further fueled by the fact that some guy walked in during my wedding and stole a bunch of expensive things from the office of CFT...wait till I catch this idiot...

My anger was cooled down by the wonderful night we had at 32 @ The Mansion...I was really really exhausted that night, at one point, I felt like I would faint already...but it was such a beautiful night...and I think everyone enjoyed themselves that night...and my wonderful friends gave a singing performance which made that night extra special :) THANK YOU VERY MUCH...you GALS are THE BEST!!!

God is fair...nothing is perfect...we had the bad and the good all happening in one day...

The BAD :(
- "someone" who didn't listen and ruined my fail-proof plan for the tricks & games, just like that, after weeks of careful planning..., now the guys are bragging that they won...sigh!!!
- some idiot who walked in and stole during my wedding, which made them suspect it was one of my guests >:( and now I am working on it to prove them wrong...
- one of our friends drank so much he had to get a jab at the hospital the next day
- Sam cut his hand on a broken wine glass towards the end of the function at 32 and had 3 stitches...

The GOOD :)
- the guys still did 1.1/2 games (and we only had 2 games anyway)...hahaha...so we didn't really lose that much after all...at least they danced in bras and skirts :P and he still gave ang pows to the girls...haha...
- apparently my cousins counted (I dunno how they did it), but Sam is the 100th member of the TAN family...hahaha...
- the bridal car no. plate came up in the lottery..."9262"...and many of his relatives won money, including my brother :) So, they say I brought "money" into the family...hahaha...
- my best GAL friends gave a surprise performance :P I was so happy, no words can describe...but I was so nervous and excited, I didn't know what to say for the speech...but Sam said his "drunk" speech already...hahaha...and I didn't know how to continue from there :P
- it DIDN'T rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was THE best thing that GOD did for me that day...no rain at all...after weeks of rain before that, it just stopped raining that day, it was clear blue skies for that one day...then it rained again on Sunday and didn't stop until today...
- although it was a painful experience for Sam to cut his hand, but in a way, it was good, cos we ended the night early and we could go home to rest earlier than I had expected. I thought I would need to get some guys to carry him home already, cos he already told everyone beforehand that he would not leave 32 until he is totally DRUNK...but, phew!...

So, this is the summary of my wedding...hahaha...

Now...we are in the beginning of a new chapter...although, it does not feel any different from before, but I guess we are walking towards a different phase of our lives...

4 more weeks...

I have not posted for quite a while and today, I finally found some time to write...my wedding will be in FOUR weeks time from today...things are starting to get chaotic...my in-laws are starting to panic and this is making me nervous. I think I have got everything covered but everything seems too perfect...when you think you've got "everything" covered, something else comes up that is NOT covered...haha...although I keep going over my list of things to do again and again...hhmm...seems to be done, but still I can't help feeling I've missed out on some things...but can't seem to figure out what I've missed out...sigh...I think all brides & grooms go through this...

I am trying my best to stay calm and rational...cos once we panic, everything will be messy...now that my in-laws have started panicking, they are not thinking rationally already, can't blame them, this is the first wedding in the family for this generation and some more he is the eldest grandchild and eldest son in the family...sigh...why do we put ourselves through such madness for a ceremony...BUT, this is a VERY important ceremony, a once-in-a-lifetime ceremony that unites 2 people...2 families together...I thank God that my family is not getting themselves involved in the wedding preparation. They are just going to relax and be at the ceremony and enjoy themselves...stress free :) that should be the way...let the bride & groom kau tim, cos it their wedding after all...why can't my in-laws just sit back & relax and TRUST that we will do a good job in planning the wedding...

For his relatives to voice out and give suggestions & opinions are fine, and we will take them into consideration if it is a good suggestion...but if it is not what we want, why not just let us decide whether we want to do it or not? Why must they insist or butt-in to our preparation and make changes when we have already prepared/set our minds to something else. It just gives me more headache to make changes...we cannot please everyone...there must be a limit...it is best that we do what we feel comfortable doing...now I understand why some couples break off their wedding during the preparation...the stress from family, in-laws and relatives can be really bad...I can't seem to gain weight no matter how much I eat...my hair is dropping, dunno if it is becos it is getting too long or becos I changed shampoo recently or becos of the stress, sometimes I can't sleep at nights...although I seem fine on the outside...very calm, very relaxed, but I am not...I don't want to seem stressful for everyone's sake...I want to make sure I keep the situation in control and I want them to remain calm, if I panic, everyone will panic with me...cos I am the bride...but then again, when they see that I am so calm and relaxed, they panic more because they think I am not doing anything...hahahaha...but in actual fact, I planned 95% of the whole wedding.

Some of his family & relatives actually asked me why I am so thin, I told them, I am stressed for the wedding, they ask me why? what am I so busy with? what am I doing that is so stressful? huh???...hahaha...I didn't know what to say? I was thinking, what question is that? what why? cos I am busy planning the wedding, that's why...but they actually didn't know that I planned everything from A-Z...all they did was go crazy with their guest list & invitation cards and they think the whole wedding ceremony evolves around their guest list only...hahaha...the guest list is the only thing in a wedding. Everything happens on its own...hehehe...ya...I wish! Sigh...so...4 weeks...28 days...672 hours................................................ ..........*fingers crossed*...

Ye Olde Smokehouse, CH

Ye Olde Smokehouse

We went to Cameron Highlands 2 weeks ago for our pre-wedding photo shoot. Why CH? Well, simply because of the temperature there. I initially wanted to take our pre-wedding shots at the beach, but it would have been super HOT. Both Sam & I sweat a lot, imagine me with make up on and sweating like mad...eeewwww...what an ugly sight it would have been. So Sam suggested somewhere cooling like Bukit Tinggi, but after I spoke with Zung from The Photoz, he suggested CH and told me that The Smokehouse & The Lakehouse would be nice and even the scenery at CH would be better compared to BT, and I thought, ya, why not? I am more comfortable with CH and have not been there for a long time. Then, Sam had this idea of asking his friends to join us for this trip to also take some group wedding photos with us. Cool...so we started off with reserving a few rooms...then we ended up booking the whole hotel because it only had 13 rooms for 33 guests in total and since we could come up with a group of 33 people, and could get a good discount, we booked the place for 2 nights, Saturday-Monday, and arranged for the photo shoot for Sat & Sun. My brother & family also joined us for a night.

Transport arrangements were made and everyone was excited about the trip and the photo shoot especially the girls. I am impressed that some of them went all out to buy dresses for this photo shoot...some of the guys also went out and bought a suit...hahaha...we were really touched and happy. Although there were some things that pissed us off, but those are things that I will not allow to ruin my trip and happy thoughts and memories of this trip, so I shall not mention them or talk about it here...

Before, the photo shoot, I already expected that we'd have a difficult time doing the shoot, but I never expected that we would be that BAD...hahaha...we were really really bad and stiff. We were so unnatural :D Well, now we know...The photographer usually takes natural shots of couples talking, playing & having fun, but we were so stiff and had nothing to say...hahaha...he was like...ok, converse...and we would both look at each other and laugh cos we have nothing to say...hahaha...we could not think of anything to say at all...to the extent we started singing nursery rhymes instead...it was fun but I was hoping for natural shots, but we couldn't, so ours will be posey shots :( but I hope it turns out ok...hahaha...

The whole trip was fun and I think everyone enjoyed themselves and since we had the whole hotel to ourselves,...actually, Thank Goodness we had the whole hotel to ourselves, we were soooo noisy. On the first night there, they drank so much, most of them were drunk and they were shouting sooo loud. Running & walking around so loudly. The Smokehouse is more than 70 years old, so the floors creak and we can hear the room next door very clearly...hahaha...the moment we arrived we gave all the couples a warning...please "do it" QUIETLY cos ur neighbours will hear you loud and clear...muahahahaha...I went to bed early cos I had to make sure I have enough sleep to continue the photo shoot the next day, but I couldn't sleep because of all the noise and ended up sleeping after everyone K.O. and the whole hotel was quiet. I was so worried that I would wake up the next day to find the hotel all wrecked and the furniture broken...luckily they didn't break anything, I was surprised...hahaha...it was madness, but the hotel was so accommodating, they gave such excellent service, we were so impressed. They thought we were a bunch of fun people. I think they probably needed some excitement since CH is such a boring place :P They did not give us "the" look, in fact, they were so friendly and nice and so accommodating. I only have good things to say about their service.

Popcorn & Coke

I watched 3 blockbuster movies recently - Transformers, Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix & Die Hard 4.0.

Watching Transformers was like reliving my childhood memories...Transformers was very much part of my childhood, just like Thundercats (hahaha). Watching the characters in the cartoon series change and transform, it was amazing and exciting at that young age. This was more than 20 years ago? Gee! Am I really that old already?...hahaha...After sooooo many years, they have now made it into a movie. With the current visual effects technology it should be good and boy, was it GOOD!!! It was so GOOD that I didn't dare blink in case I'd miss out on anything...hahaha...I watched with awe and amazement. Opening my eyes wide enough to make sure I absorbed every single image. I cannot describe how much I LOVE this movie. It was just sooooo good...the CGI effects was fantastic! This DVD is a MUST BUY to keep, so that I can watch it again and again and again and again and again............

Then came Harry Potter and we read in the newspapers that it managed to win Transformers at the Blockbuster...surprised, we thought, hey, we should watch this movie to see how good it actually is...and we were disappointed. It was no where near as good as Transformers, although both movies are very different, BUT at least Harry Potter should be as good as it's previous series...but Oh! So disappointing...this is the worst series amongst all...not funny, not exciting, in other words...boring...and a couple, sitting a few seats behind made it worse. They were acting like as if they were at home, just the two of them...the female was giggling a lot but they were also arguing a lot and the guy was a vulgar word machine all the way, I thought I was in a nuthouse. They were behaving badly, I thought they were crazy >:( Sigh, this was the worse I have encountered.

Last night we went to watch Die Hard 4.0 and...Oh my! It was really super Die Hard..."Khang Khor See"...hahaha...even with an F-35, shooting missiles at him, he really just CANNOT die...hahahahaha...BUT, it was a pretty good movie...enjoyable and entertaining, comparing with Harry Potter, it really made Harry Potter a worse movie.

So, in my opinion...watch Transformers & "Khang Khor See" 4.0 in the cinema and don't bother watching Harry Potter, but if you wanna watch it for the sake of continuing the series, then just buy a DVD... :)

Creepy Crawly

Went to Bangkok 2 weeks ago with my bro, wife and my nephew...stayed at a hotel for the first 3 nights cos my sis was moving into her new house that weekend itself. So, we stayed at a hotel for the convenience of shopping and food...then on the 4th day of our trip, we moved to my sister's new house to stay there for 2 nites...I would be sleeping on the floor in the master bedroom together with my sis & bro-in-law (Joe)...so, while I was getting ready to shower, I saw this gigantic spider crawl out of their walk-in-wardrobe (which leads to the bathroom)...and with super fast reflexes, with my hair standing on end...I grabbed a tealight cup from a nearby storage box and trapped it and I immediately jumped onto my sister's bed with goosebumps...

...EEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...!!! Damn it was gross...

My sis & Joe was out running errands, so I ran to the guest room and asked my bro to come help me get rid of it...and WHAT WAS I THINKING...he came in and said...let it go lah!!! It is not harmful...Walau!!! I should have known...I was about to go search for newspapers when I remembered that Joe has arachnaphobia...hahaha...even the tiniest spider will send him running off screaming...hahaha...I remember a time when he was driving us in the car when a small little spider was outside his driver's side window, he froze and nearly got us killed...after parking his car, he made my sister go out to get rid of the spider before he dare to open the car door to get out...hahaha...it was quite funny. So I deliberately waited for them to come home so that I could show him this gigantic spider that was lurking in his wardrobe in his BRAND NEW HOUSE...hahaha...that would probably give him nightmares...but in the end, he didn't have the guts to walk into his room and asked me help him get rid of the spider...hahaha...and this is how BIG the spider is................





I took pictures of the spider with my cameraphone...hahaha...while taking these pictures, I had goosebumps all over...I had to take evidence to show Joe lah!!!...hahaha...

I asked them for newspapers...I took 1" thick newspaper, rolled it up into a 5" thick BAT...took it upstairs with me...stared at the spider...squat there looking at this poor disgusting insect which I am about to kill...it took me about 5 minutes to build up my courage...then holding the BAT with my right hand, I placed my left hand on the cup, getting ready to lift it up, and...WHOP!!! AAaaahhhh!!! *clang clang clang*...the cup fell, but luckily it didnt break...and flattened on the floor was the poor spidey...I took it downstairs and showed Joe the flattened spider and he nearly fainted...HAHAHAHA...

Mission accomplished

Went to KL over the weekend for one mission...to pick my wedding & evening gowns for the photo shoot and for the actual day...also to try and find a suit for Sam...



Result ~ MISSION Accomplished!!! Woo Hoo!!!



We arrived on Thursday and we had an early night...then on Friday, we walked around KLCC to try and find a suit for Sam...our intention was to find a proper 3-pc suit with vest and all for the photo shoot, but we couldn't find any, but, instead found a really nice casual/semi formal 2-pc suit which would be nice for the 32 dinner on the 27th. We didn't buy it immediately cos we wanted to look around first to make sure that this is the best...so we walked around...then decided to walk around Starhill, just in case...but it was lagi worse...hahaha...so, we thought, it is ok, can go back to KLCC tomorrow after the CoverShots appt to get the suit la...

The appointment with CoverShots was @ 2pm...but we were early so we arrived at CoverShots at 1pm to meet Yvonne - the nice lady whom I have been liaising with all these while at CoverShots - she ran through our package with us again just to make sure we know & understand what we would be getting. My package includes two wedding gowns and two evening gowns for the photo shoot. As for the event day, I am allowed to use one of the wedding gowns and both the evening gowns. OK...so, it was time to try on the gowns and feel like a princess...HAHAHA...

She showed us their available range of gowns...although not many, I would say, maybe about 30-35 wedding gowns and 15 evening gowns to choose from only. But, for me, it was good enough, sometimes having too many varieties to choose from will be too much of a headache...with such a small range, it is easier to decide, which was why it only took us about an hour to choose my gowns. I've heard ppl taking up to 3 hours to choose their gowns...


I only tried on about 10 wedding gowns and only 5 evening gowns. From there, the decision was rather easy...hehehe...I LOVED the very first wedding gown that I tried on, it was brand new, no one has worn it yet and it was simple and nice, silky and soft, BUT heavy because of it's long train...but besides the train, I love the simple design...so that was confirmed...it took me a while to decide on the 2nd gown. Yvonne advised me that I should pick a second without a train, which I preferred also...but I tried on those without train, and they all looked funny or weird or too plain on me...so in the end, I chose the 2nd gown with a train as well...which I really loved too (Sam picked this gown), it's just that it also has a train...but it is ok la...so, mission accomplished...I was tired but REALLY HAPPY...then I was thinking, I only spent less than 2 hours at CoverShots and I was damn tired already, imagine how tiring it would be on my actual wedding day...oh my! hahahaha...


After CoverShots, we went to get the suit at KLCC and went to Dome for COFFEE...after coffee, we went home and took a looooooooong nap...LOL...


I am glad to get this finally done...can't wait for the photo shoot at Cameron Highlands...We've booked The Smokehouse and I have obtained permission from the Strawberry Park Resort and the Lakehouse to take our photos there, so our pictures will mainly be taken at these 3 premises...should be fun :)

The Meeting

It was time for the parents to meet...it was on Saturday 9th June, for dinner at Everyday Supreme (the chinese restaurant where we intend to have the 20th dinner)...I was a little worried...although not very worried...but a "little" worried...hahaha...I think it is natural to have that feeling that there might be some disagreements between the two parties...They have met a few times before, but not often, but this time, it is different...it is for a reason...hehehe...it is an official meeting to obtain "permission" from my parents...LOL...and also to discuss about the usual chinese traditional stuff...My family is Christian whereas they are staunch Taoist, so my family has no superstitions, no strict rules or believes, we are all "chin chai" & simplicity is the best...I am glad that his father understands us and understands what we want and what we like, so I was glad that it all went well, although they do have their culture and beliefs that I have to follow, as the bride, but I am ok, as long as it does not go against my rights...OOOoooooo! hahaha...everyone seemed quite comfortable and there was no weird situations...so I was really happy. For my dad, anything is fine as long as it is wat Sam and I want...I love my parents for this...they just really let us kau tim, they dont wanna get involved, which is good, so I am not too stressed out. So, I only have to worry about Sam's side and what they want and require of us to do and follow...wish me luck!

Planning a Wedding part II

Thank goodness, Sam has finally assured me that 32 @ The Mansion will be the venue for the 27th October Wedding Dinner. Before this, it was only 99% because a few friends kept giving us suggestions for a venue, but I still much preferred 32 cos they have the experience and the place is really nice. My brother & sister had their wedding dinners there too...hahaha...so now it is my turn to have it there. My first choice was actually Parkroyal Hotel at Batu Feringghi, but we had a concern...we were worried about our heavy drinking guests...for them to drive home through the winding roads back into town can be a little bit dangerous, so we had to find a venue in town and most hotels in town are booked on the 27th already, and we think 32 would be an ideal place, so why not!!! So, thank goodness that is confirmed now...phew!!! Now, only the chinese dinner on the 20th Oct is not confirmed yet, but I am not so worried about that dinner. I will let his family decide and choose the venue cause 95% of the guests at the chinese dinner will be his side of the family...hehe...so my main concern is the 27th Oct event - the MAIN day - THE day...hahahaha...

I have finally met with a designer/tailor for my dress(es), but it is only the first appointment, he will need to source for the material, then meet up with me again a few weeks later. I have also paid the deposit for my hair & make-up...and hair & make-up can be freaking expensive, it will cost me almost RM1,000 for both 20th & 27th. I was shocked...but sigh...it is a necessity cos I cannot do my own make-up & hair! I have also paid the deposit for our pre-wedding photographs. Covershots will be doing it and we have chosen to take our pictures at Cameron Highlands...mainly because the weather is cooler there...LOL...that is the ONLY reason. I love the beach, but Sam thinks it will be too damn HOT & sunny, we would probably get sun-burned by the end of the photo shoot...so we thought, either Bukit Tinggi or Cameron...and a photographer advised that Cameron will have better and more natural buildings as background, so ok lor...I don't mind :) As long as Sam doesn't mind paying for the additional transport & accommodation costs...kekeke...I initially didn't want to take any pre-wedding photographs cos I thought it would be a waste of money, but everyone thought I was mad not to take it, even Sam said "take lor"...hhmm...so ok lor...we will be taking them in July :P I will have to go to KL in June to pick out my dresses for the photo shoot, it should be FUN :)

I have also found a photographer for the event photography and have met up with the florist and decorator and have booked his time for both dates. So, now I guess everything has been pre-booked and I am just going to sit back and wait for everything to fall into place for me to take action and work on them. There is nothing much that I can do now except to wait...wait for his family to confirm the venue for the chinese dinner on the 20th...wait for my designer/tailor to call me back after he finds some suitable material...then I'll be able to start work on the invitation cards, discuss the theme with my florist & decorator, think of the door gifts, find a band, prepare the seating for the guests for both dinners :S - the toughest part of a wedding - and getting our room ready for the pick-up bride and of course for me to move in after the wedding...hhmm...and a few more other things...hahaha...

I am not expecting much for my wedding dinner @ 32...I just want it to be fun, comfortable, cozy and for everyone to mingle around and P.A.R.T.Y.!!! Woo hoo!!! I am just going to try my best to make it a fun event, but I won't be able to please everyone, so I will just try my best and make sure I myself will have fun too...it is my wedding after all! ;)

Planning a wedding...

...is not easy...and is really expensive...everything involves decisions, decisions, decisions...money, money & lots of money...

To date we have yet to confirm CONFIRM a venue...although we do have a few places in mind already and have verbally "confirmed" a couple of venues but I have delayed the deposit payment for the confirmation of the venue mainly because we keep getting new ideas for new venues...ideas keep changing, although it's only been 19 days since I started planning the wedding, but we've had so many changes made to the type of dinner, the theme, the venue, the no. of pax, the no. of dinners...etc...and this is only just the beginning. But with only 5 more months left to plan...I am getting a little worried...I was still taking it slow the past few days, but now I am feeling the rush to get things done & confirmed with. The date is confirmed already, but I am trying to get the venue confirmed, once that is done, I will be able to follow with getting the invitation cards done, confirming the theme & decortations with the event planner, the band, the menu...Other than that, I still have to arrange for the pre-wedding photos, the event photographer, the dresses, the make up & hair do, the accommodation for the outstation guests...the registration, the whole pick-up bride planning and renovations...whoa!!! Phew!!! Although I do admit that it can all be done within a few months, but it will be non-stop planning all the way until the wedding day...Preferably, I have a year to plan, but come to think of it...a year is also a loooong time, with so much time to plan, we tend to keep changing our minds cos new ideas pop up from everywhere...so it is also not good...I wanna just get it over and done with so that I won't keep changing my mind...after all, it is only for that ONE day...despite everything, it is still going to be our day...our Wedding Day, it is going to be great no matter what!

So, stay tuned for my wedding planning................................it is going to be..............................interesting, I hope....hahahahah....

Everyone, please meet Herman...the German GIANT wabbit...he weighs about 22lbs, 3 feet long and his ears are 12 inches in length...he is the cutest wabbit I have ever seen...look at those FEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He eats about 2kgs of vegies a day and his favourite is lettuce...wahahahahaha...a friend says that his friend is importing these wabbits into Malaysia...

FINALLY!!!

Yes, my dear friends...this is what everyone has been waiting for for the past 5 years...I am FINALLY getting married...I got the "confirmation" on May 1st, yes, it was Labour Day...and we were at a PUB, called SOHO and with 3 well-built muscular friends, they guarded and delivered the ring to SOHO and that's when I realised..."THIS IS IT!!! It is finally REALLY happening"...my hands were shaking and I was really nervous and I had butterflies in my stomach...although he didn't kneel down on one knee and propose or anything like that, it was a deemed yes already, all he did was give me the ring, but I did manage to get him to put the ring on for me...it was quite a surprise to me because I didn't think he would actually buy me a ring without my knowledge, I always thought we'd just talk about it and decide to marry and go look for a ring together...haha...so this was a surprise to me...

Although, for the past few months, his parents and family have been talking about our "wedding" happening this year, but I didn't think much about it, cos Sam didn't say anything about it at all, so I assumed that it was his family that was just trying to get us to tie the knot asap but was not Sam's plan...but I guess it was...so, now we are officially getting married and it will be THIS year...OCTOBER...2007!!!

Everything has been quite crazy and hectic recently...I had to jump into action almost immediately, looking at all our auspicious dates and choosing the most ideal ones and calling up every suitable hotel to check for the availability and capacity. I was also not sleeping too well for a few days because of all the excitement and chaos and the anticipation and also worried that we wouldn't be able to get a suitable venue that we liked...but now, we have almost confirmed the date & venue...phew! and from there, it should be smooth sailing...the 2 most important things are the date & venue, once that is confirmed and done, the rest should just fall into place. Of course there will be a few hiccups here & there but that is normal...we'll just have to deal with it as it happens...so...stay tuned for more details... :P ;)

Overnite Camping Trip @ Pantai Kerachut 28/04-29/04/07

Pantai Kerachut - you can either get there by a 20-minute boat ride or a 50-minute hike through the forest...the hike there is quite easy and really nice cos it is shaded most of the way and not too difficult, but it can be a little dangerous because you might get lost in there...but otherwise, it is a very nice hike...About 4-5 yrs ago, I joined my bro's friends for a hike and picnic trip to Pantai Kerachut, but back then, Pantai Kerachut was a disappointment, the beach was strewn with rubbish. This time, I was surprised to see how clean it was. I never knew Penang was capable of cleaning up a beach...hahahaha...but, I learned that the reason why they had it cleaned up was because they were making it a National Park and they have set up a Ranger's Hut and we have to get ourselves registered at a booth that is located at the port / hiking starting point. There were 17 of us altogether...

This is good news, but as usual, we hope that they will keep it up and not slack off...which is very common in Malaysia...sigh!!!

Upon arriving at the beach, we started looking for an ideal spot to set up our tents...

this tent took us almost an hour to get up, cos of all things, we forgot to bring ropes...so, we had to make do with whatever that we had...so this tent was not exactly properly set up the right way...

This tent was rather easy...only took us 20 minutes...hehehe...

this was the EASIEST...it took my friend 10 minutes to get it up...but at the end of the day, when it rained...this tent was the first to get flooded with water INSIDE the tent...hahaha...

It took us about an hour to get all the 5 tents up. Then we started clearing a place under some trees for us to rest...some of us went fishing, but had no luck at all, the fishes did not take bait...but it was alrite, it was fun anyhow...after our fishing attempt failed, I managed to take a nap under the trees, the weather was beautiful...there were other campers there, I think possibly a total of 60 other campers as well...

...we brought soooooo much food that we managed to offer some to the other campers...hahaha...we are such generous ppl :P but I gotta say that the amount of food we brought was cra-zee...and worse of all, the guys were the ones who organised this camping trip and the food list...sigh...i think they should always consult or leave it to the girls when it comes to food preparation...the amount of food we had could well last us for 3-4 whole days...and it was like a fine dining camping trip...the menu consisted of chilli con carne, french toasts, 100 chicken wings, 3 different types of sausages, corn cobs, japanese sweet potatoes, fish fillets wrapped in banana leaves with a choice of curry or spicy sauce, variety of vegies marinated in olive oil & herbs, tuna & ham sandwiches, curry chicken (1 whole chicken)...there were 10 french loaves, 8 cans of baked beans, 50 eggs, etc...it was CRA-ZEEEEEEE!!! Our girls idea of a camping trip was instant cup noodles, bread/sandwiches, junk food...simple and hassle free food...but sigh...oh well, a lesson to be learned...

we stopped by Monkey Beach on our way here to pick up the gas tank & stove...Monkey beach is just before Pantai Kerachut, about 15mins boat ride...

Our fren's "famous" chicken curry that was totally..........UN-edible!!! I didn't even dare to taste it...cos by the look on their faces, I knew it was unedible...hahaha...

Everything went well into the night...we were lying down on mats enjoying the breeze...until the stars disappeared behind thick clouds...uh-oh!!! We all started praying hard that it wouldn't rain but unfortunately, just before midnight...we heard heavy rain drawing nearer n nearer, we got up and ran as fast as we could into our tents, the thunder & lightning was booming across the sky above us, it was scary yet exciting...hahaha...we had to hide ourselves in the tent until the rain stopped at 3am...we then managed to get some sleep until 8am in the morning, although it started to drizzle again at 5am all the way until we left at 10am.

If it was not for the rain, this trip would have been quite nice, but my whole body was aching because of the uneven sand underneath our tents...but this really gave us a taste of "tough life"...

26th April - declared a public holiday because of the installation ceremony of the King...I mean, OUR King...I mean, Malaysia's King...he is the Sultan of Terengganu, and today, he ascends the throne as the 13th Yang di-Pertuan Agong...a few weeks ago, when the papers announced that 26th April will be declared a public holiday, my brother asked me, "so, are we going to declare it as a PH?"...I said, "of cos NOT, for what?"...he jokingly said..."why not? we have to respect the king!"...what King???...

Yesterday, T, Marc and I had dinner after steps class and T asked me, so are you working tomorrow? I said "yup, no holiday...what holiday?...Install ge-piii!!!" Install what? Toilet bowl kah?...for him to sit on it and goyang kaki...T was saying ya lo, what does he do anyway, not like he contributes to the country's economy...well, he uses taxpayers money to support his luxurious life, his butlers, his yellow aka gold coloured clothing, his expensive food, his grand palace, his drivers, his expensive S-Class Benz...and for what? so that he can present medal of honours to dunno who and who and probably show up once in a while, all nicely dressed up in yellow and adorned with gold here & there for official events like Merdeka Day...just to shout out "Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka" then balik palace tidur...

How come we do not see/hear about him, the "King" and/or his wife, the supposed "Queen" doing any charity work, visiting and helping the poor & the unfortunate, the sick and the homeless...contributing to the society, helping them and encouraging them...giving them hope...In Thailand, they respect the King so much that until today, they still stand and give respect when the national anthem is played, even in the cinemas, we have to stand up for the national anthem tribute to the Thai King before the movie starts. Now, this is what I call an earned respect...he earned it because he has done so much for his people. What have our Kings/Queens done for the people of Malaysia? Nothing! So, King who? Siapa tu? I have no idea...

My TMNT...

One nite, a couple of years ago, my dad came home with a tortoise...he was playing golf at the Turf Club when he saw this tortoise wandering around, so he "saved" it...he was worried that crows would peck at it...haha...I was thrilled, cos the last time we had a tortoise was when I was very little, maybe about 3 or 4 yrs old, but I was too young then and the tortoise was very small, only about 5cm long, but this one, this is a BIG tortoise, it was measuring at about 20cm...this would be a new kind of pet for me :) I've had a few different pets in my life...hamsters, guinea pigs, cats, dogs, fishes, birds...etc...I've always been the one who would put effort to feed them and care for them, and my dad knows, which is why, everytime he finds a stray pet, he would give it to me and not to my brother or sisters...hahaha...

The last time he "found" a pet was over 10 years ago, on my BIRTHDAY...he was practising his golf in the garden at night when he suddenly kept calling my name...I was in my bedroom at that time wondering what had happened, I ran down and saw his holding a hamster in his hands...he told me to get a box and said that he found it running across our garden...I was so happy...my dad found a hamster running in our garden at night on MY birthday???? what are the odds of that???? hahaha...the next day when I went to school and told my friends about it, they told me that maybe my dad had bought the hamster and pretended to find it in the garden just to surprise me...LOL...it would be nice, haha..but nah, my dad wouldn't do that...I am sure he really found it in the garden, cos the next day he went and bought food and cage for the hamster...my dad would help change the newspapers for the cage and would check out the hamster very often...I am a lot like him...both of us would do things like that...we'd be fascinated and put effort and care...I had a few more hamsters after that and my very last hamster was a birthday gift from Karen...she bought me a hamster in Melbourne when we were staying together, and we named it JoJo...hahaha...but it only survived for 2 mnths I think and it died early morning when we were both out partying the whole night and found it dead when we reached home at 7 in the morning...poor thing...

So, anyway, back to my tortoise...which I named Squirt (after the little turtle in Finding Nemo)...I took it to the office the next day and put him in the airwell...for the first few weeks he was so scared and would always hide in his shell at any sight of any movement...he would only dare to eat at nights when every1 has left the office, my dad & I would go out and look at him and be fascinated by his behaviour, the other staff and even my bro thought we were crazy, haha...we thought it was really nice to have a tortoise around and since our airwell was so big...

...my dad asked our salesman to find more...he goes to Ipoh very often and he says he always sees a lot of tortoises near the highways and often they are run over by cars...so he found four more tortoises...he found a BIGGER one and the other 3 were Squirt's size...so I named the big guy DUDE (Squirt's dad in Finding Nemo) and the rest...Sprite, Sprout and Spike...hahaha...

It took them a few weeks to get used to the place too, but soon they were all ok and happy...I would throw the vegies at the same spot of the airwell, and after a while, they would automatically go to that spot and WAIT for me to throw the vegies in for them...this really surprised me and my dad...hahaha...when my dad sees them gathered altogether at that spot, he would tell me that they are waiting for their food and ask me to quickly feed them, cos they are hungry already...haha...

Recently, my salesman found another BIG BIG tortoise, the biggest amongst them, but this was special, it had 2 red stripes at the head...but, I just put him together with the rest, but this was a feisty one, he was more difficult than the rest...he would dig and hide himself in the sand or try to crawl up to escape and for weeks he refused to eat the vegies. Initially I thought he was scared so he kept hiding himself and everytime I would have to pull him out...until I went to Aji Noren for dinner one day and saw that they had 2 of the same tortoise and I asked them what these tortoises eat, then only I knew, that they do not eat vegies and they live in WATER!!!...HAHAHAHA...they eat turtle pellets...similar to fish food...alamak...it took me almost 2 months to find this out, thank goodness it didn't die...so the next day I immediately put him into this huge basin with water and bought the turtle pellets...he ate soooo much...hahaha...ayo...pitiful, luckily I found out about it, otherwise, I wonder what would happen to him now...it's been 4 months since we found him...and now he is happy and full :P


I didn't know what to name him...until recently, when the movie TMNT came out...it struck me...oh yeah, why didn't I think of it...hahaha...Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had 4 characters in it...so I changed their names around...Squirt will remain as Squirt, the the other 4 will be Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael & Michelangelo...then this big guy in the water is now DUDE...hehehehahaha...




and the guardian of my tortoises aka office secutiry guard aka rat exterminator...Bobby...my dear old Bobby...

The Notebook

Ok, I know, I know...you guys must be thinking..."WHAT?!?! Another movie???...Boh-ring!!!"...okok, one last movie post.......................................for this week...hehehe...

Many of you might have already watched this movie, The Notebook, as it is quite an old movie, I think about 2-3 yrs ago...and I bought the DVD when it was first released then, but I recently only remembered and found time to watch it...so, I was home early last week and I searched for it under the huge pile of DVDs and watched it alone...I wanted to watch it alone, cos many ppl have told me how sad the movie is and a friend of mine even sweared that I'd cry, cos he said many of his friends, including guys, cried when they watched this movie, he calls this movie the ultimate "tear-jerker" movie. So, I thought, ok, I'd better watch it alone...hehehe...and anyway, Sam is not a drama, touchy-feely movie type of person...so, I was all seated comfortably in front of the TV, with a pillow to hug, just in case :P

The movie was really nice, I really liked it, it was really sweet and touching and all, but, I didn't cry!!! Surprise, surprise...Mr. Bean made me cry but this didn't...hehehe...It was really sad & touching but I think I've seen sadder movies than this, but this had a nice storyline to it. It was a really nice movie to watch :) Two-thumbs up for this movie...

Mr. Beeaaaaannn...

Sam & I wanted to watch a movie yesterday, so we decided on Mr. Bean's Holiday, since we missed it 2 weeks ago, so, there were only limited showtimes left and the last showtime last nite was at 8:45pm...we reached there at 8:30 and was surprised that it was already full, only the front rows were available...we usually do not buy front rows, but the next interesting movie showing is TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and that was at 10pm...which was too late...so, we thought, oh what the hell, front row, front row lah! I didn't mind cos it is a comedy, just watch and laugh like mad...no need for any concentration of any kind and it does not have any special effects, so it should be ok kua, I thought...

So, we went in and settled in our seats, making ourselves comfortable, but the screen angle is really quite difficult to see cos it was a really small cinema. So I had to rest my head on the top of the seat and slide down, put my handbag behind me to support my back. I heard an old couple right behind us talking about their wedding anniversary plans, I didn't take a look at them, but from the way they talked, I assumed they were about 50+, I was thinking uh-oh, I hope they are not the type that will repeat the script or react to the scenes...LIKE MY MOM!!!...then the previews started.

The movie was quite ok...I know that many ppl had doubts about this movie, but certain scenes were seriously funny...and there was this one part that made us laugh so hard we cried...seriously CRIED. I was wiping away tears and laughing so long and hard...it was crazeeeeee...this ONE scene made the whole movie worth watching...hahaha...

...but I was surprised that Mr. Bean's teddy was no where to be seen in this movie...his famous button-eyed teddy bear was MIA.

I needed a comedy really badly recently and this movie made me laugh til I cried, so it was a success!

At the end of the movie, I saw the old couple who was behind us walking towards the exit and I was shocked...they were actually about 70+ (I really thought they were much younger, their voices, the way they talked, they were very focused, no stuttering, very firm)...holding hands while walking out, watching them, it put a smile on my face, I thought it was really sweet,...in their 70s, going to the cinema to watch a movie together, holding hands,...I hope that when we reach 70, we'll be like that too :) :P ...and throughout the movie, they were really good, no repeating of scripts, talked very little, so much better than some of the youngsters I have encountered in the cinemas...the movie and this wonderful old couple really made my day :)

“mother of all drug-processing centres”??? Hhhhmmm...I am not too sure if this is the right language for the newspapers to use or not, but it seemed kinda weird. When I read it just now, I actually laughed...I don't think that this is the type of reaction they'd expected for this news...I wonder what the writer was thinking when he wrote this. I don't know, but could someone please tell me if this is actually a "proper" language?? Seems wrong to me...especially for the papers to use...I thought it is meant for casual talk when we are with friends...sounded very Singlish or Malayish...hahaha...

Little Miss Sunshine & Pan's Labyrinth...

So far for 2007...I'd say that these two movies caught my atttention and I give them 2-thumbs up - Little Miss Sunshine & Pan's Labyrinth. 300 was good, but it was another war-hell-breaks-loose-screaming-fighting movie about strength and freedom, good, but typical and expected.

I watched Pan's Labyrinth a little more than a week ago and thought it was very well done. I liked the fact that it was fantasy yet violent and brutal. The first violent scene gave me such a shock...I stared at the TV, mouth wide open, in shock...If a fly had flown in, I wouldn't have realised it...haha...cos I'd actually thought it was a kid's movie...a kid's fantasy movie, but with all the violence...either Spanish kids are freaking hardcore or this was a fantasy movie meant for adults or matured children...cos the bottle-bashing-nose-breaking scene was horrifying...and the knife-stabbing-and-slicing-of-mouth scene was not too pretty either. It was quite nightmarish in fact. But overall, I would rate this movie an 8/10.

Then I watched Little Miss Sunshine 2 days ago and again, I felt that this movie was good & funny. It had little details here n there that made me laugh so hard...all in all, a weird little heart-warming story of a weird & dysfunctional family. The writer of this movie cleverly brought each character out...it was just so well written...the script was what gave this movie the winning touch. The last part of the movie, the little miss sunshine pagent scene, made me laugh the hardest...that part was really unexpected and clever. So, I give two-thumbs up and a 9/10 for this movie. It was such a simple movie and THAT was what made it so good and clever.

This is what I thought of both these movies...I recommend them...but if you don't like them...then too bad...hahahaha...and thanks to Marc for lending the DVDs to me...hehe...
